Divine Inspiration

The poetry of T.S. Eliot and the Chapel of St. Peter and St. Paul were the inspirations behind a new opera created by SPS Director of Chapel Music and Organist Nicholas White. White’s “The Fire and the Rose,” which features the SPS Chapel Choir and members of the SPS Ballet Company, debuts at the School tonight and will be screened for the community in March.

Growing up north of the Arctic Circle in Alaska, Joellen Russell ’89 would watch ice breaking up on the Chukchi Sea and wonder where it all went. Today she dedicates her career to observing and predicting the ocean’s role in the Earth’s changing climate.

Her Purpose: In Service of Others

The next event in our yearlong celebration of 50 years of coeducation will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 22. This virtual panel, co-moderated by Rector Kathy Giles and Ellen Greer '07, will focus on the theme of service. Speakers will include Dana Remus ’93, White House counsel for the Biden administration; Maggie Smith ’98, an active-duty U.S. Army cyber officer; and Rhiya Trivedi '08, a civil rights attorney.
